Okay i stopped saying wow after like 5 mins in this place. Pants and i came to this place called Hammond in town. It is button heaven, i went into a button coma, i couldn’t even speak. We were there for a few hours and it felt like 5 minutes. Some of the most amazing buttons you have ever seen. We walked out with one huge bag full of old vintage buttons, old button cards and awesome glass buttons. Yikes i can’t wait to go back again we didn’t even go through a quarter of the stash they have in there. Pants and i want to share the button love look at the next post to see what you can win.

This arrangement of buttons is like when someone wears a the same colour blue bow with a blue belt and blue shoes with a blue cardigan all at the same time, together, all at once. It makes me nervous when people arrange their ensemble like that. Too much of the sameness, im the last person to talk about fashion, but yikes! How do you even find the same colour to match another item. Whaaaat …. anyway i wonder if this even makes sense.

They just don’t make them like they used to. Sounds like something my Gran would say, but its the truth in this case. The green button is made from Bakelite and the peachy button is made from some cheap crap plastic. They are very similar style of button but the quality is just not the same. Solid vs flimsy, rad vs lame, detailed vs flat… anyway i could go on… conclusion: OLD is BETTER.

okay If you have been following my blog for a while you will know my ultimate button to collect is what i call the ‘Badly printed shank collection’. These are my favourite type to collect because they are so unusual and most of the time have really bad prints on a white shank (that’s how i got to the name, obvs) Over the next few days im going to share my favourites with you, most of them i bought in a shop in New york. BTW did i mention im going back there in May (YAY!)

Thanks to Gwen and Judith they inspired me to post some more blue buttons, since they loved the ones i posted on Saturday. I found these all together stuffed into a tiny bag in an awesome warehouse type shop in Canada. Holy smokes awesome warehouse with everything vintage/old/antique/awesome you can find in one place . If i had enough money i would buy the whole shop and still love everything in it. I mean everything. I love the ‘?’ buttons.
