So last summer my favourite skirt started falling apart at the buttons seams. It really was starting to look a little tacky and used. I was trying to find every excuse under the sun not to chuck it away. Eventually i figured it out and the solution was really simple! I pulled off the old fabric buttons, sent it to Levingers to get it dyed navy, sewed on some pretty new navy shanks and Voila ! A Brand new skirt. It’s still my favourite and i think i could get a few more years out of it.

Jo - was it cost effective to have it dyed at Levingers. I didn’t know they offered a service like that. I have so many pieces of clothing I want to revamp. And yes, you are a clever little thing!

Um no Lea it wasn’t all that cost effective, i may as well have bought a new skirt - it cost R130 but i was willing to do it. I actually know of another dying place that is way cheaper but it is out of my way and they are closed on saturdays, so you can definitely do it much cheaper. I do my denim jeans and you can’t believe how completely NEW they look afterward.

Thanks for letting me know Jo, I struggle to find good skirts and jeans that fit well because i have an odd shape and i’ve wanted to redye a few things so I know what you mean by being willing to do it. Plus, your skirt is totally customised and best of all, its one of a kind! Woop!
