button Coma

July 6th, 2010

Okay i stopped saying wow after like 5 mins in this place. Pants and i came to this place called Hammond in town. It is button heaven, i went into a button coma,  i couldn’t even speak. We were there for a few hours and it felt like 5 minutes. Some of the most amazing buttons you have ever seen.  We walked out with one huge bag full of old vintage buttons, old button cards and awesome glass buttons. Yikes i can’t wait to go back again we didn’t even go through a quarter of the stash they have in there. Pants and i want to share the button love look at the next post to see what you can win.

bargain

June 23rd, 2010

So i haven’t been to the Oriental plaza in a long long time. It’s like they have done a bit of a clean up or something but i found so much stuff there this weekend, or it was just my lucky day. The purchase i am most excited about are these badly printed shanks, as you already know my favourite type of button. I thought i had exhausted all the shops of these at the plaza. Apparently not since i found these…. gasp….. and then i found these fabrics, vintage, some are 100%cotton and really good prices ….. i am almost as obsessed with rose patterned fabric as i am with buttons so it must have been my lucky day.

Im back :(

May 24th, 2010

Happy to be home but sad to leave those awesome places behind. Look what i found on my last day on London, a little fabric store by the name of Broadway Bargains on the High street of Worcester Park. So sweet. Lots of Fabrics and the best little sorted out buttons. Look at the awesome little chest of drawers, i want it - cause that’s how i wanna sort out my buttons. i bought these two button cards and the doily with some lose vintage buttons for a pound. yikes so cute.

Update for this week

April 29th, 2010

Look what i found in the woods today. Well actually i went yesterday to Arthur Bales a little family owned business that sells everything from buttons to knitting needles.  I actually went into the shop to buy some wool for a little Yarn Bombing project im planning to do in New York and London. But obviously i came out with more than just wool (I think when i go into a Haberdashery/fabric store i can only compare myself to a dog in a polony factory). Getting back to what i walked out with…. i couldn’t help myself with these adorable teddies, way too sweet. All that fabric is for a quilt, i would like to start making my first quilt ever. My mom sent me this link Where the lady from Obsessively Stitching is showing her readers how to make their first quilt, step by step. Its a really awesome guide and can’t wait to start cutting my blocks. Maybe ill keep you posted with the progress of my quilt. Looks like i have got my hands full with all these awesome projects im getting myself stuck into. Tomorrow ill post the rest of the buttons i found at Arthur Bales.

hospice saved my life.

March 2nd, 2010

Morning button club. heee! This last weekend stubs and i went to hospice to see what we could find. They had a huge section of buttons, sorted out into different colours. WOW, i went mad, obvs! These are just some of the vintage gems i found. Im in love with the pink and red knitting needles ( that’s what i want to learn how to do this year, yes knit ) and i bought the pattern of the high waisted shorts i would love to try and make. ‘Try’ being the operative word. The last picture is of a sewing magazine stubs bought me, the magazine still has the pattern in it. SO RAD! i love it thank you stubs.

hold me down

November 13th, 2009

SO! i found these at a Len’smill store, holymoley two of my favourite things in one little package; roses and buttons. My sister actually bought one card for me and i told her to take me to the shop immediately incase i’d find similar kinds. I did, as you can see below. ill never take these off the card, unless someone pays me 1 million bucks to do it. Can’t wait to pass them on to my children one day. Have a happy weekend.

These make a great combination, also love the thin strip of buttons on card. Got them while in Canada from a shop called Lensmill i think?
